October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, which is really important to me and a cause that I take part in. Cancer is a draining disease to deal with not just for the person that has it, but also for everyone around them. So I want to address can be done to better prevent and how can we support the this breast cancer?
Ladies, I can’t express enough the importance of going to the doctor regularly and preforming self examinations. Many young women need to visit the doctor and be examined for possible early detection. Exercising regularly, maintaining a healthy weight, limiting alcohol, and not smoking can prevent not just breast cancer but other types as well.
Right now people can sign up or donate to the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure that is going on in cities across the country. All over the country businesses and events that are going on supporting Breast Cancer Awareness. Simply wearing a pink ribbon, clothing, or accessory is showing support and getting the word out.
I know that many of us are busy and can’t spare time for anything. However, what is getting an examination or changing ones lifestyle compared to dealing with a life changing disease. Ten years ago I lost my grandmother to breast cancer; I don’t want someone else to go through what my family did. If working together to save lives and prevent breast cancer then why not support pink.
