I believe there comes a time in everyone’s life where we have to take the time to reflect. Reflection gives us clarity on the events that took place to get us to the present moment. We live in a fast pace society rushing to get from one point to the next without taking moments to regroup. As we switch gears from high to low we begin to burn out wondering how we reached a point of no return.
Sometimes you get frustrated with going through the motions needing answers to end your cycle of insanity. Reflection is the answer to your cycles coming to a halt. In the last three days I have spent some time to reflect on the last four months of my life. Each event that occurred took me on an emotional rollercoaster that I thought would never end. However, a friend of mine mention taking some time to reflect on the events in her life and how beneficial it was to get the answers she needed to move forward.
So, I instantly jumped on the bandwagon of reflection because I was tired of jumping from one fire to the next. I wanted to make sure I never cried, worried or got emotional about these events again. It was truly time for closure, time to move forward into new territory. The only question that lingered in my head was, what did I need to do to never be in those situations ever again?
Reflection was the simple answer but I had no idea what to reflect on for my life. My friend told me to focus on the bad to the good things in those four months. So, that is exactly what I did for myself. I spent time in meditation, journaling, prayer and getting clear about how these events were prevalent to my growth. After the last day I understand this powerful statement, there is no growth where pain does not reside. The ugly moments in our lives build character and help us appreciate the good moments.
I challenge you to take some time to retreat away and reflect on your life. You will be blown away by the answers you get from your personal retreat. I dare you to hit pause and reflect!
