On an average day it’s said that a brain processes an average of 70,000 thoughts. For some of us those thoughts range from work, money, chores, relationships, and everything in between. Though our thoughts can be about a little bit of everywhere, I wonder in all the chaos how often do we think about ourselves?
Last week I found myself having negative thoughts about myself because there were some things going on that were bad. This is my second week without a job and I’m one week away from moving, so there’s a lot of thoughts running through my head. I just don’t know how I’m going to handle everything or how it’s all going to work out.
I’ve played all sorts of scenarios in my mind, but every single one has a down side. So even though we have an average of 70,000 thoughts, all of mine are about me and if I will make it. With all these thoughts swirling in my head, I started to believe that I would never make it because life wasn’t what I thought it would be.
I’m use to working and being independent so being in a place where that’s no longer the case can make a person feel useless. Thoughts of insecurity, self-esteem, pressure, and stress all start out infrequently then as one focuses on them they become more frequent and more believable. Before we know it we start to doubt ourselves and feel that we will never get past the situation we are in.
Everyday we face a battle that’s going on in our mind concerning what thoughts we except. While its not easy to be positive all the time we have to be aware that our thoughts and feelings determine our day. We have to choose to think positive about ourselves and speak that into ourselves.
