Over the weekend I met with some friends for lunch to catch up and talk about our college days. While we were talking it dawned on my how fortunate I’ve been to gain the skills I have. So why are people not interested in learning to lead?
In college joined different organizations on campus to put myself out there so that I would become more independent. That way I could grow. However, at my friend’s university they don’t encourage students to get involved. Being a leader is not something that one can pick up, it’s has to be learned. One learns how to delegate, speak publicly, and be confident. Through my experience I found out about the power I possess and how to use my voice.
It’s easy to not worry about learning certain skills, but some of them are worth knowing about. When one forces themselves into a situation, they come out stronger than they would imagine. One can lead or follow, it’s all about what position they prefer.
