Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” Sounds easier said than done, but recently I was faced with choosing between either faith or fear. The question I had to ask myself is do I trust God enough to keep going even when I don’t believe in myself or where things are ahead?
Last October my friend Danyel (who’s a former Mind of a Diva guest blogger) and I started working on creating a local networking group for bloggers and content creators to come together. When we decided to have a website we requested proposals from several website designers. However, the invoices for the work were out of our price range.
One night I was lying in bed thinking and worrying about how we would get this site done. That’s when I heard Jesus tell me to build it myself. I told him, “I can’t build a site. I’ve never done that before.” Again he told me to build the site, so the next day I started working on it and with His help I created our group’s website.
Once the website was done I started to worry about it not being good enough and what other people would think. So I pushed back the launch out of fear, not seeing that I was actually hiding the blessing that Jesus gave me. He made a way for me to build this website and helped me through the whole process. By not launching it I no longer walking by faith but reacting out of fear to what could happen.
Isiah 41:10 “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Faith is believing in all things, not just in the parts that we understand or comfortable with. In order to see where He’s taking us we have to put our trust in Him because He will never leave us. He has a plan and would not ask us to do something that would not benefit us in some way. So we have to step out on faith.
