After years of trying to attend the Pinky Promise conference in Atlanta, I was finally able to go last week. Pinky Promise is an organization founded by Heather Lindsey which focuses on honoring God with your life and body. Every summer the organization holds a 4 day conference where women from all over the world gather to focus on their spiritual growth.
This year they had speakers discussing a variety of topics ranging from single parenting, marriage, being single, and more. Main speakers included Allyson Rowe and Havilah Cunnington with keynote speakers Cornelius and Heather Lindsey. Along with the dynamic sessions there was a powerful worship services and vendors.
Since this was my first time attending a women’s conference I honestly didn’t know what to expect. Even though I’ve followed Heather for years with her monthly online bible study, nothing could prepare me for what I experienced. This conference truly has everyone in the room laid out in the presence of Jesus.
From the worship service Thursday night to the church service on Sunday I felt the love of Jesus in the room. Attendees were sharing their hearts and feeling with one another, they were crying out to the Lord, and everyone was there supporting one another. It was beautiful to see so many beautiful women in one place supporting one another in their walk with Christ. I’ve never seen anything like it.
Attending Pinky Promise allowed me to the opportunity to empty myself of everything and give it to Jesus. The sessions at this conference held a mirror up to my life. Now I see how I need to step up in my faith walk, let go of my past, and be specific in the relationship I want.
One of the best parts of going was being able to share this experience with my friends and cousins. As we get older we downplay the importance of having fellowship with like-minded people. Then we wonder why we’re not able to find genuine connects. Since experiencing this conference I’ve found the value in connecting with others and strengthening my existing relationship.
I learned how vital it is to be spiritually fed. These past few months I’ve noticed how I’ve become so distracted by life that I don’t make time for Him. This conference showed me that we have to make Jesus a bigger priority. We have to seek Him daily over all the other stuff in our lives.
Since being back to my normal schedule these past couple of day I’ve noticed that I’ve changed. The things that would normally get under my skin don’t bother me anymore. Also the distractions that I use to have don’t grab my attention don’t captivate me they did before. My focus is now on connecting with the Lord and my calling.
Overall I’m thankful that God wrote into my story attending Pinky Promise. It exceeded anything that I could have ever imagined. This conference will empty you of all burdens and fill you with so much more. You will leave forever changed.
