Have you ever heard that a voice inside of you discourage some aspect or situation you’re facing? It can come out of nowhere and then thoughts of doubt or fear can become a determining factor. One has to ask, how big of a presence does that noise inside of us play in our decisions?
For my friend her noise is about her weight, exercise, and food. Growing up she would hear her family talking about how important it is to be skinny and their opinions on what is the perfect size and what is fat. Their discussions turned into her noise because now she’s concerned with how much she weighs and the food she eats.
In her mind she has to maintain a certain weight and size, but the only reason she thinks this because of her body image noise. Our noise can’t control our lives and determine how we live and what moves we make. We have to recognize what that noise is and why for it to loss the hold it has in our mind.
Discovering the root of what’s causing those thoughts and actions can help us change that pattern. My friend is working on calming her obsession with weight because she sees it’s not healthy. Silencing that noise within can remove the thoughts that hold us back from a better life.
