Have you noticed how a majority of the Valentine’s Day commercials are about men giving gifts and loving their women but they’re never the other way around? It never hit me until now that Valentine’s day is being portrayed as a holiday to only celebrate women in a relationship. Where do men fit in and shouldn’t we take time to appreciate and romance them too?
Yesterday my coworkers and I were talking about Valentine’s Day and he told me that he doesn’t like the holiday because it’s about women. He’s been in a relationship for a while now and sees the holiday simply spending money, going out, and presents and then only getting a small amount of appreciation back. To him February 14th isn’t about appreciating the man in a relationship at all.
Even though Valentine’s Day maybe seen as a day to celebrate only women, the day wouldn’t exist without us having a partner. The dating world is a hard place to find a good guy that’s right for us, so when find the right one we need to be show that person how much they matter to us. This mean making Valentine’s Day and everyday year around as much about them as they do about us.
Getting gifts from a guy that cares about us is a great feeling because we all want to be accepted and loved by someone, but just as much as we like it so do others. So we must appreciate the good man that we have in our lives and acknowledge how much they do.
