Once a couple has been dating for a while they usually introduce each other to their family and friends in order to see how everyone gets along. While letting everyone get to know each other is great, what should a couple do when their attachment starts to deteriorate? Should they stay together for the sake of other people?
A couple years ago one of my guy friends was dating this great girl that everyone liked. She was really polite, cool to talk to, and his friends and family really enjoyed having her around. The only problem was that he didn’t enjoy her company as much as everyone else did. Inside their relationship he wasn’t happy with her always being around, how she always needed attention, and how they were not growing as a couple.
Even though all of this was going on between them, he wouldn’t break up with her because everyone else liked her. A relationship is about the two people that are in it and if they are not happy then something needs to change. No one should date another person for the sake of other people.
Dating is about making the people that they are involved happy, growing together, and seeing where things can go. Without these factors the relationship is just a title and the two people are just together. The focus has to on the happiness of the people dating instead of everyone else.
